R&D Developments

Below are the key ongoing R&D directions of IDC ABN.

Each project is carried out in close collaboration with leading universities, research institutes, and R&D companies across Europe and Ukraine.

Materials Science and Surface Engineering
Development

1.1. Metal-matrix composites based on nanocrystalline AlB₁₂

Essence and advantages

• Nanoparticles < 100 nm uniformly distributed within metallic matrices (Al, Ti, Mg etc.)
• Exceptional strength, impact resistance, and thermal stability > 1000 °C
• Promising for mechanical and radiation protection

Typical applications

Hypersonic structures, armor panels, high-temperature aerospace components

Development

1.2. Ceramic and cermet coatings

Essence and advantages

• Enhanced wear, corrosion, and heat resistance
• Deposition methods: plasma and detonation spraying, electro-fusion
• Compatible with steel, titanium, and aluminum substrates

Typical applications

Pump seals, hydraulic pistons, petrochemical valves, shafts, bearings, food- and packaging-industry components

Environmental Technologies
Development

Coagulation accelerator for wastewater dewatering

Essence and advantages

• Activated nanoparticles reducing sedimentation time by 30–50 %
• Increase dewatering efficiency without forming toxic residues

Typical applications

Wastewater treatment plants, metallurgy, food industry, municipal services

Maritime Solutions
Development

Protective coating for small-craft hulls

Essence and advantages

• Multicomponent composition with hydrophobic and antimicrobial properties
• Reduces fouling, corrosion, and fuel consumption

Typical applications

Boats, unmanned vessels, technical marine transport

Agrochemistry and Climate Resilience
Development

Plant protection agent for hot and arid climates

Essence and advantages

• Formula resistant to photodegradation and high temperatures
• Prolonged action under low humidity

Typical applications

Arid regions, greenhouse complexes, open-field crops under elevated temperatures

IDC ABN Today — and Where We Are Headed

  • Through participation in joint research projects with universities and industrial partners, we have brought several technologies to TRL 5–7, moving toward pilot-scale and small-batch production.

  • IDC ABN is open to collaborative R&D, pilot testing, and joint proposal preparation under international programs such as SBIR/STTR (NASA, DoD), EDF, and Horizon Europe.
